Coastal Bliss

NOWHERE is a space that embodies our lives together, the spirits of our friends and family, and our collective adventures. Designed by us (a little), the land (mostly), and our amazing architectural partner (definitely) along the Alentejo coast of southern Portugal. It’s a space to call home while traveling, reset your body, and escape the city grind, a place where time stands still and new memories are collected.

Your Hosts

NOWHERE is a destination by travel journalist Stacey Leasca and photographer Silas Dunham.

Stacey is an award-winning journalist whose words, photos, and videos have appeared in print or online for The Los Angeles Times, Travel + Leisure, Departures, Food & Wine, Hotels Above Par, Glamour, TIME, and more.

Silas is a photographer, designer, and entrepreneur (and part-time carpenter) with a career that’s been far from traditional.

Stacey and Silas are avid coffee lovers, surfers, and snowboarders, and when they’re not on assignment can be found at a local coffee shop, at the beach, in the mountains, somewhere camping, or just hanging with their dog Alastor.

Both were born in New England, aged in Los Angeles, and refined traveling the world.

In 2021, Stacey and Silas (and Alastor) uprooted their lives in LA and moved to Lisbon, Portugal for Stacey to pursue her PhD. The move inspired them to slow down (a bit), and with the dream of planting new roots, they bought the land (and house) of their dreams: an abandoned old Portuguese farmhouse, with one hectare of old-growth cork and pine trees along the southwestern coast.

The house needed love, but they saw the vision immediately and with a little help from friend and architect Mafalda Sacadura Botte (@filmadesign) they transformed ideas into reality in 2022.

The home, and property, are designed and inspired by their own experience here and while traveling, blending old with new, wood with concrete, indoors with the outside.

NOWHERE is never done, this is just in its current state. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
